1. Analysis of the teaching materials This unit is about the cultures of Christmas which are very close and familiar to Ss’ daily life. So the Ss will be interested in this topic. I will pay more attention to Ss’ interests and self-learning. 2. Analysis of students The Ss of Grade 5 have learned English for at least more than 2 years. So they have the foundation for this lesson. Ss know something about Christmas and like it, but they can’t talk about it in English well. | ||||

I think teaching the Ss how to learn is more important than teaching itself. So I will try to lead them to learn, to think and to practice. During this class, situational, conversational and task-based teaching methods, colorful activities such as asking, acting , guessing ,listening are used widely. At the same time, pair work and teamwork are so necessary for this class. | ||||

Step 1. Warming up 1. Enjoy the songs and choose: Which one is a Christmas song? T: Hello, boys and girls. Nice to meet you. Ss: Nice to meet you , too. T: Today I bring some songs for you. Let’s enjoy the songs and tell me which one is a Christmas song. Step 2. Revision and Presentation 1. First, in the sound of the song ,let’s go into western people’s Christmas.(板书) 2. Ss watch a video, read the phrases loudly. 3. Game: Non-stop talking (1分钟内尽量不间断,不重复) Ss talk about: What do they do at Christmas? 4. Read and order:first, next, then, finally (学生选用四个关键词,按时间顺序排列外国人的圣诞活动) Step 3.Presentation 1. Next, let’s share Sam , Bobby and their friends’ Christmas.(板书) 2.(出现图片1) T: This is Sam, Bobby and their friends’ Christmas. (出现图片3) This is their friend: Mr Turkey’s Christmas. (teach: Mr Turkey) 3. Compare and find. (学生对比两幅图片中人物的表情,发现他们的圣诞节有什么不同) 4. Guess and say (学生根据图片信息和人物动作,发挥想象猜一猜Sam, Bobby们和Mr Turkey的圣诞节分别是怎么过的?) 5. Watch and choose (学生看视频选择答案,回答:What do they do at Christmas?) 6. T: In your opinion , do Sam and Bobby like Christmas? Ss: Yes. T: Does Mr Turkey like Christmas? Ss: No. T: Why? 7. Read and find (学生快速阅读课文,找出它们说喜欢和不喜欢圣诞节的原因) 8. Read beautifully 9. Let’s act (学生选择自己感兴趣的一组角色表演对话,Group1:图1,图2 Group 2:图3,图4) 10. Talk: Do you like Christmas? Why? Step 3. Consolidation T: Our next Christmas is not far. Then let’s design our next Christmas activities. 1. Talk: In China, what can we do at Christmas? 2. Design our next Christmas activities (学生结合中西方文化差异,与自己的好朋友自由组合,设计下个圣诞节活动。)
(学生写下设计的圣诞计划) Step5. Homework(分层)作业 T: Show two presents. They are some colourful cards and Christmas pencils. (每人送一张彩色卡纸和圣诞铅笔) They can make a nice Christmas card. Today’s homework 1 is to make a Christmas card. Let’s discuss how to make it next lesson. Try to express with first, next, then and finally. T: If you like , you can also do homework 2. Read and act the cartoon with your partner. |
